At Reading for the Love of It, we were fortunate enough to have Eve Bunting and Patricia Polacco sign books at our booth. Both authors were wonderful and stayed until everyone had gotten their book signed.

It was a great event. Thank you to everyone who maked this our most successful year at the event.

Over the holiday season we raised $1204 for the Parkdale Activity and Recreation Centre through our gift wrapping service. Thank you to all those in the community who donated to this wonderful organization. This money will directly help their efforts to build Edmond Place, an affordable housing project. Winter is Upon Us

Starting Saturday December 5th, 2009, Another Story Bookshop will be offering gift wrapping for all purchases for a donation to the Parkdale Activity-Recreation Centre (P.A.R.C). Last year we were able to raise over $1900 for P.A.R.C. and we hope you can help us aid this wonderful community establishment.

Also, come in for a nice, warm complimentary cup of apple cider.

Attention Students: Grades 7-10

Another Story is working in partnership with educator Arthur Gron on a project called "What's Their Story" where students in grades 7-10 interview artists/writers in the community and post the audio or text transcripts on the web. The goal is to actively foster literacy and community spirit through journalism.

MAYWORKS FESTIVAL

Another Story is once again excited to be a part of the Mayworks Festival (www.mayworks.ca). This year's window display is by Toronto based artist Kate-Christine Miller.
Kate-Christine's work entitled INDEBTED: ERASURE AND NON-BEING explores the effects of international lending and the IMF using textiles and altered books.

An Evening of Adventure, Memoir and Crime...

THE COLOUR OF PEACE

“The Colour of Peace” colouring book and peace party will be held on Saturday, September 20th from 11am to 12pm, at Another Story Bookshop.

In celebration of international peace day, the PEACE PARTY is a free event for the whole family. The writers and some of the artists from the colouring book will be in attendance. Kids can make a peace flag and receive a peace tattoo (temporary)!! Also, there will be a presentation of a wild new peace story called DRAGONS!
